Beauty and the Wiener by Casey Griffin

I admit I read this book because of the really cute cover. I haven’t read the first book in the series and this book can be read as a stand alone. This was a cute little mystery with a romance in it. My biggest issue was that I just never connected to the heroine. I didn’t dislike her but she was immature and her I’m going to meet the “perfect man” and he’ll sweep me off my feet and we’ll live happily every after with our dogs attitude was ridiculous and sounded like something a teen would think. I think she was supposed to come across as a dreamer but for me she just seemed flighty and immature. This made the romance hard for me to swallow as well and it didn’t work for me. Both characters seemed to annoy each other and then misunderstand each other and get their feelings hurt a bit too much that it never really gave me the chemistry I was looking for.

The mystery side was a bit basic with lots of suspects but I thought the culprit was easy to figure out. The mystery just gave us a way to see Felix and Addison interact with each other.

Overall, if you like a light, fluffy read with some humor brought on by Addison’s antics or you enjoyed the first book then this story will fit the bill.

I’m only giving this book two charms.

About afgypsysoul

I have always loved to read. My first memory of reading is winning a stuffed animal turtle for reading the most books in my 2nd grade class. I am a retired Air Force Officer who has traveled around the world with my kindle! I love anything with a romance. I'm a big fan of paranormal romance, urban fantasy (as long as there's a little bit or romance), romantic suspense, contemporary romance and M/M. I have over 1000 books on my kindle that I haven't read yet and somehow I keep adding more. I never leave home without my kindle and I love reading challenges. I currently live in Phoenix with my husband and two kids. I also have two wonderful dogs a lovable pitbull and a cute dachshund. I'm still hoping my kids will pick up my love for reading!
